What is it that you love about being a Personal Trainer? My favourite part about being a personal trainer is helping people move pain-free and discover strength they didn’t know they had.

I love being there to cheer my clients on and share in their triumph as we achieve their goals.

When you attend one of my training sessions you will leave feeling... When you finish a session with me, you will leave with the tools and knowledge you need to further your fitness journey and a great muscle burn for good measure!

What is your favorite way to experience fitness, sport and/ or adventure? My regular fitness addictions include obstacle races, swimming, hiking and powerlifting.

What is your "go to cheat" treat? There are a few “cheat” meals that I indulge in, but you can never go wrong with pizza!

Why did you start to teach group fitness/personal training? I love helping others achieve their personal fitness goals and to see the difference it makes in people’s everyday lives! I enjoy a group class because everyone pushes each other and finds the will to drive and keep going as a group.

When you attend one of my classes / training sessions you will leave feeling... Better than when you walked in, with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, saying that was awesome!

What is your favorite way to experience fitness, sport and/ or adventure?  Travelling is how I experience adventure! I love to ski in the winter and hike and play football in the summer!

What is your "go to cheat" treat or meal? I’ve travelled to over 40 countries and every meal is a cheat meal when you’re travelling!

What is it that you love about being a Personal Trainer?
I love watching people embrace both the power and process of movement & exercise. Being just a small part of that profoundly life-changing experience makes it really easy for me to get out of bed every morning.

When you attend one of my training sessions you will leave feeling... Like you're 1% better than the last time.

What is your favorite way to experience fitness, sport and/or adventure? I love where my legs can take me; hiking, skiing, trail-running and completing the odd ultra-marathon.

What is your "go to cheat" treat or meal? Cinnamon toast crunch is the best cereal ever made and calling it a cheat meal is blasphemous!

Name, and Nickname? Shantelle is my full name, but everyone close to me calls me Shani. Some of my closest friends call me ShanDawg Millionaire, but let’s just keep it at Shani!

Where were you born? I was born in Medicine Hat, but grew up in Strathmore.

How long have you been a personal Trainer? I started when I entered university, so since 2015.

Why did you start personal training? Growing up as an individual heavily involved in sports, movement has always been a huge passion of mine. The more I began to learn the science behind movement & anatomy, the more I began to understand the impact it can have on quality of life. Our bodies are amazing but it’s important we learn how use them properly, to avoid injury or just improve our overall quality of life.

When you attend one of my training sessions you will leave feeling... Mentally and physically; accomplished, educated and better than the hour before. Don’t forget exercise is just as good for the mind as it is for the body. My goal is to have you feeling empowered & confident in what your body can do.

What is your favorite way to experience fitness, sport and/or adventure? I am always up for an adventure, but I love volleyball. Between both indoor & beach, you will always find me trying to play my heart out. Outside of that, I am a small-town girl at heart, so any chance to get out of the city and visit family, hike, camp, slow-pitch, you name it, I am in!

What is it that you love about being a Personal Trainer? I love helping people improve and live better lives. I started to help someone I know improve their health and found a love for it.

What is your favorite way to experience fitness, sport and/ or adventure? I like to do loads of weight training and climbing! Climbing is the sport I train for so that I can eventually compete.

Why did you start personal training? I started personal training because of my background in sports and the feeling I felt when I accomplished my first fitness goals when I was 16.

When you attend one of my training sessions you will leave feeling... Like you have accomplished something new, learned something new, or feel better than when you walked in.

What is your favorite way to experience fitness, sport and/ or adventure? The way I train myself is a combination of strength training and athletic conditioning. I always want to remain strong and lift heavy weights, but I also like to be able to apply that strength and combine it with athleticism. My favourite way to experience fitness outside of the gym is skiing in the winter and playing various sports like football and basketball with friends during the summer.

What is your "go to cheat" treat or meal? It’s a popular myth in the fitness industry that personal trainers always eat skinless chicken breast, brown rice and kale. While I do eat mostly nutritious foods, I will enjoy cheat meals from time to time. It's hard to pick what my favourite is but some popular choices of mine would be cheeseburgers, perogies, or my biggest weakness ice cream.

Why did you become a  Personal Trainer? I love personal training for many reasons, but the one reason that stands out the most is being able to help people achieve their goals.

The knowledge that if I do the best that I can, and my clients are ready to put in work, they can get faster, stronger, leaner, more muscular and achieve whatever else their goals may be.

When you attend one of my training sessions you will leave feeling...Better than when you came in. If you felt sluggish, sore, tired or just had a bad day i'll pay extra attention to any of those things so we can have a workout that will make you feel incredible!

What is your favorite way to experience fitness, sport and/ or adventure? Literally anything with my dog; whether that is hiking, camping, or just going to the dog park.

What is one fun fact about you? One fun fact about me is I sneeze every time I laugh too hard!

Why did you start personal training? I started personal training because I have transformed my life through my own weight loss journey. I have learned discipline and so many valuable habits stemming from my fitness journey that I have now applied to all areas of my life. I want to help others change their lives with the same habits and methods. I understand how intimidating and scary it can be to step into a gym for the first time, I will work my hardest to help make the transition to the gym comfortable and fun!

Why did you become a  Personal Trainer? The way we move is intimately connected to the way that we perceive the world. I am a huge nerd about movement, but ultimately what gives it meaning is the context of our lives. This makes each journey unique. What I love about being a personal trainer is collaborating WITH my clients towards a better version of themselves as THEY define it.

What is your favourite way to experience fitness, sport and/ or adventure? These days I mostly stick to climbing, however, I am always in for a pickup game of basically any sport.

Why did you start personal training? I love when people have a breakthrough in their eating habits, movement, or abilities. Helping people move better and feel better is incredibly rewarding for me.

When you attend one of my training sessions you will leave feeling... Accomplished. The goal of every session may not be to work to exhaustion or to have sore muscles; every session will have a purpose that will progress you toward your goals.

What is your favourite way to experience fitness, sport and/ or adventure? I have developed a passion for bodybuilding in recent years, however, I also enjoy martial arts, snowboarding, and skateboarding.

What is your "go to cheat" treat or meal? I can't say 'No' to peanut butter. I eat it by the spoonful, and I put it on everything. It's also rare that I will turn a cookie away.
